# Where to get help

Real help from other organizations. We do not work for them. We only point the way.

- **Small business advisers (SBDCs).** Advisers and classes for small business owners, in your area. The SBA says it and its partners offer free or low-cost counseling and training near you. <https://www.sba.gov/local-assistance>
- **SCORE.** Free business mentoring from volunteers. SCORE is a nonprofit and a partner of the SBA. (Its site may ask your browser to prove it is a person; that is normal.) <https://www.score.org>
- **SBA-backed loans.** The SBA does not lend directly. It guarantees loans that banks and other lenders make. The SBA lists changes of ownership, whole or partial, as a use of its 7(a) loans. <https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/7a-loans>
- **Employee ownership (NCEO).** A membership group that does research and teaching about employee ownership, including ESOPs. Some things are free; many are for members. <https://www.nceo.org>
- **Chambers of commerce.** Find the chamber of commerce in your town. This is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's list for Texas. <https://www.uschamber.com/co/chambers/texas>

> **More to come.** We will add groups as we check them.
