Where to get help
Real help from other organizations. We do not work for them. We only point the way.
Small business advisers (SBDCs)
Advisers and classes for small business owners, in your area. The SBA says it and its partners offer free or low-cost counseling and training near you.
sba.gov/local-assistanceSCORE
Free business mentoring from volunteers. SCORE is a nonprofit and a partner of the SBA. (Its site may ask your browser to prove it is a person; that is normal.)
score.orgSBA-backed loans
The SBA does not lend directly. It guarantees loans that banks and other lenders make. The SBA lists changes of ownership, whole or partial, as a use of its 7(a) loans.
sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/7a-loansEmployee ownership (NCEO)
A membership group that does research and teaching about employee ownership, including ESOPs. Some things are free; many are for members.
nceo.orgChambers of commerce
Find the chamber of commerce in your town. This is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's list for Texas.
